We are of the William Riley Whitten group, through my grandfather Cammillus L. Whitten who died at Bodcaw, Ark in 1920 or 21, and who is buried in Union Cemetary just north of Bodcaw, where several other Whittens are interred. My father, Vernon Horace Whitten, was the youngest of 3 girls and 5 boys.
My Great Great Grandfather is Levi Whitten; Great Grandfather is Robert Morgan Whitten; Grandfather is Barzilla Graves Whitten; Father is James Bonner Whitten.

Looking for a Caroline Whitten who married a Mathew James Lewis. She was supposedly born around 1832 in Alabama. She lived with Mathew in Mississippi. They had four children.

Interesting website! I'm related to the Whittens descended from Mary Jane Crump (she married William Riley Whitten). She was a widow with 6 children when she married Riley. Her husband, Robert May, died of measles during the Civil War at age 29. I'm curious about her birthplace that you have listed as "Piper Co., MI". I can't find a Piper County. I have her birthplace as Mississippi.
I am looking for my great grand Aunt Johanna W T Esselborn who married William S. Whitten. I would like to know the burial places of both. William was born 1852 and died 1897 in was an officer in the Civil War. His wife Johanna was born 1852 and died in 1931 in Little Rock Arkansas. I believe they were married in St. Louis, Mo. Thanks. Hi, I am trying to research our Whitten line and am just getting stuck. I was named for my great,great grandfather John Franklin Whitten who was born in 1875. John's wife Nancy H Whitten was buried at Shady Grove, but I can not seem to find John's place of death, so I assume it is the same family. Can you tell me if he is related to Levi Whitten? Thanks!

Decendant of Levi Whitten, Horace Julius Bates Whitten, Levi C. Whitten (great grandfather). Some of Levi C. Whitten's children are the Whitten's you mentioned that are in Tampa, FL. I have no info on Levi Whitten and very little on Horace Julius Bates Whitten. I can gave you info on the Tampa Whittens and the Whittens of South Georgia.
We know very little about our Whitten line except they are from Arkansas. My Grandfather is David Walter Whitten born in 1897, Arkansas. I also know that "Wallis" was a family name.
